A note from our Principal

Hello Parents and Guardians,

I would like to take a quick moment to help direct your concerns and/or questions for faster service or follow up. I truly enjoy hearing from parents and helping out wherever needed; however, I’ve noticed that a good number of questions that come to me are “in the hands” of another person or department. You are welcome to continue emailing me if that is a preference, but due to the volume of emails I receive daily, it may be a faster turnaround to contact your needed person directly. To shorten your wait time, here is a common list of individuals and their departments:

  1. Any scheduling questions, concerns, or requests go directly to your child’s grade-level counselors. I don’t handle schedules, changes, drops, adds, or anything with class schedules. Here are the counselors and their extensions and emails
  2. Student behavior questions or concerns can be directed to grade-level administrator
  3. Medicine, specific injury or sick questions, medical procedures
  4. 504 
  5. Special Education
  6. PACE
  7. Athletics (teams, tryouts, practices, times, gamedays, etc)

My objective with this note is provide quicker service for our parents. Of course, if you have academic questions, such as homework, tests, projects, classroom expectations and procedures, or information particular to a classroom, you should speak directly to your child’s teacher. I am always available for each parent, but I hope this helps give you direct access to individuals you need and quicker.

Volunteers needed!

volunteersIt’s hard to believe school will be starting soon! Renner PTA looks forward to working with all of you! Visit www.rennerpta.membershiptoolkit.com to fill out the 2016-2017 Volunteer Interest form for the many volunteer opportunities throughout the school year.

The first opportunity to volunteer is on August 11 at  Renner Packet Pickup. Please sign up on Membership toolkit. The shifts are listed online.

Please make sure to renew your Volunteer Clearance form. (This needs to be updated every year.)

School Supplies for 2016-2017

Monday, July 11th – Friday, August 5th – Order your school supplies (which will include a top of the line Staples Better Binder), spirit wear, yard signs and car decals (for orchestra, band and choir), and PTA membership from PTA online at https://rennerpta.membershiptoolkit.com/.   For teams such as volleyball, football, basketball and track, the yard signs, decals, and team athletic wear will be ordered separately once players are established.  Note that yearbooks are purchased later in the year.  NOTE:  IMPORTANT – Bring your receipt to pick up your supplies on August 11th.  

Thursday, August 11th –1 Day Only!  Packet / Schedule Pickup (as set by PISD)!  – Pick up supplies, schedule, PE Uniform, spirit wear, etc.   You must bring your receipt from your school supply order to pickup supplies.   If you cannot be there, please give your receipt to a friend who can pick them up for you, otherwise you will have to wait until the 1st day of school.

  • 6th Grade:                        2:00p–4:00p
  • 7th Grade:                        11:00a-1:00p
  • 8th Grade:                        8:00a-10:00a

8th Grade Celebration!!

Last Day of 8th grade graphicOur 8th graders are graduating and we wanted to do something fun for them!   We will celebrate on the last day of school, June 3rd, from 10:35-12:35p (kids will be released at 12:40p).  Our outdoor inflatables plan has been modified based on the wet fields and high chance of of rain.   Instead, right now, we are planning to use both gyms and have pizza for the kids, cake, yearbook signing, a DJ, photo booths, games, and a chance to hang out w/ their friends.

Renner Movie Day in the Park

Movie starts dark (apex 7:45p)

This community-family event includes our feeder elementary schools.

Our World Cup Soccer Game will start the action: Parents VS Students

Food Trucks and other food will be on site with food available for purchase: Easy Slider food truck (burgers), a Pizza truck, Kona Ice, popcorn, candy and drinks for purchase. Please send CASH with your student for food purchases.

Teacher Treats

Our upcoming Renner Teacher Treats event is Thursday, April 14. Your homemade or store bought goodies are enjoyed by the entire staff. It’s a special day to show the Renner staff how much we appreciate their work.

Principal’s Brown Bag Lunch

brown-bagThe next Principal’s Brown Bag Lunch is Tuesday, April 12 at 12 pm. It’s an opportunity to have a Q&A session with Ms. Pegram. She’ll also lead a tour for an eyes on experience of our Mustangs in their active learning classrooms. Come join us in the library!

Renner Community Color Run!

Race Packets can be picked up Friday after school from 3:30 to 6:30 pm and Saturday morning from 7:00 to 9:00 am.

Online registration will close on March 31st at midnight. If you still wish to register, please arrive by 8 am on the day of the event and you can register with a credit card or check at the Packet Pickup station.

On Saturday, April 2, Renner Middle School is hosting what we hope will become an annual event!  Combining our community, physical activity and some good, messy fun all while raising money for Renner Middle School, Centennial Elementary, Brinker  Elementary, Barksdale Elementary and Huffman Elementary!
